Look for patterns and changes, and trust your instincts.<\/p>\n<h2>Physical signs<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Going to the toilet much more often, including at night, or complaining of pain when weeing<\/li>\n<li>Blood in the toilet or underwear, or wetting accidents<\/li>\n<li>Stomach pains or cramps with no clear cause<\/li>\n<li>Runny or sore nose, nosebleeds<\/li>\n<li>Glazed or unfocused eyes, slurred speech, clumsiness or seeming &#8220;spaced out&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Unexplained bruises or injuries they don&#8217;t remember getting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Changes in mood and behavior<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Memory lapses and difficulty concentrating<\/li>\n<li>Low mood, anxiety, irritability or flat emotions<\/li>\n<li>Falling grades, missing school or college<\/li>\n<li>Losing interest in hobbies, sport or old friends<\/li>\n<li>New friends they are vague about, more secrecy, more time alone in their room<\/li>\n<li>Needing more money, or money and valuables going missing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Things you might find<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Small plastic bags with white or brown powder residue<\/li>\n<li>Keys, bank cards or small spoons with powder on them<\/li>\n<li>Rolled-up banknotes or cut straws<\/li>\n<li>Small mirrors or flat surfaces with powder traces<\/li>\n<li>Messages or slang such as &#8220;K&#8221;, &#8220;ket&#8221;, &#8220;bump&#8221; or &#8220;wonky&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bladder symptoms are a red flag. If a teenager is suddenly using the toilet far more often or has pain when weeing, ketamine should be considered, even if a GP suggests an infection.
