Our response and safeguards regarding Corona Virus Covid-19 – UK & USA Clients

This page has been created to cover Coronavirus Covid-19.

COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It’s caused by a virus called coronavirus.

Allen Carr’s Easyway are ensuring that they are up to date with this fast-moving situation and are ensuring that they are doing everything that is recommended to be done.

To ensure that our clients can have access to our seminars regardless of any restrictions on travel or public gatherings that might be in place all our seminars are now Live Online Group Seminars which can be “attended” via your computer.

Our Live Online Group Seminars are held via video-link using an application called Zoom (similar to Skype but more stable for the purposes of the live seminar). Zoom is easy to use and the Customer Services Team at Allen Carr’s Easyway will guide clients through the simple set-up instructions in advance of the seminar.

How COVID-19 is spread

Public Health England say that from what we know about other coronaviruses, spread of COVID-19 is most likely to happen when there is close contact (within 2 metres or less) with an infected person. It is likely that the risk increases the longer someone has close contact with an infected person.

Respiratory secretions produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes containing the virus are most likely to be the main means of transmission.

There are 2 main routes by which people can spread COVID-19:

  • infection can be spread to people who are nearby (within 2 metres) or possibly could be inhaled into the lungs.
  • it is also possible that someone may become infected by touching a surface, object or the hand of an infected person that has been contaminated with respiratory secretions and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes (such as touching door knob or shaking hands then touching own face).

Preventing spread of infection

There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus.

Public Health England recommends that the following general cold and flu precautions are taken to help prevent people from catching and spreading COVID-19:

  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze. See Catch it, Bin it, Kill it.
  • put used tissues in the bin straight away.
  • wash your hands with soap and water often.
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
  • clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.

This is a fast-moving situation so please keep up to date with the advice issued regularly from the Government and the Chief Medical Officer (UK) and Surgeon General (US) and all official departments responsible for handling the crisis.

In practical terms:

If you have respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath) and a high temperature we kindly ask you to call us to advise us of the situation. You will be able to rearrange the seminar at no charge when you are better.

  • Please shield coughs and sneezes with a tissue, elbow, or shoulder (not the bare hands).
  • Please wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Please avoid shaking hands.
  • Alcohol-based hand sanitizing wipes (and sanitizers when they are available) are distributed throughout the centres.
  • Tissues are freely available through-out the centres.
  • All our seminars are now Live Online Group Seminars from your own home which can be “attended” via your computer.

Live Online Group Seminar – UK & US only

Our Live Online Group Seminars are held via live video link using an application called VSee (similar to Skype) and are in groups of up to 10 people.

The seminars are conducted by a Senior Allen Carr facilitator who is an expert in the method.

The setup is very straightforward and takes just a few minutes.

Please don’t worry if you’re a bit of a technophobe – our friendly reception team are here if you’d like help setting up and doing a test call to make sure everything’s working as it should before the day of the seminar.

You will need a webcam (these are usually built into laptops & tablets but please check) and earphones (this prevents feedback and improves the sound quality). You can also use a tablet if you prefer (excluding Chromebook) but unfortunately not a smart phone.

A broadband internet connection is essential. You will find you have a better-quality call if you plug in a network cable rather than using Wi-Fi.

At the end of the seminar there will be some light relaxation – this is a pleasant, relaxing experience which reinforces the main points of the session. You may like to have a blanket and cushion so that you are comfortable during this part of the session.

Seminars will be available for Stop Smoking, Stop Drinking and Weight Loss & Sugar Addiction.
