Unmasking the dangers: A connection between vaping and cancer

New Australian research has emerged, linking vaping to lung and oral cancer.

This claim originates from a study conducted by the University of New South Wales in Sydney, where cancer researchers scrutinised a wealth of evidence from animal studies, laboratory research, and human case reports published from 2017 to 2025.

Revealing Findings

The comprehensive review demonstrated that early warning signs of cancer risk, such as DNA damage and inflammation, were prevalent in the bodies of those who vape. This revelation points directly at the carcinogenic potential of vaping, altering the cells and tissues of the oral cavity and lungs.

Surprisingly, though modern e-cigarettes were only invented in the early 2000s, quite a number of vapers also smoke tobacco, making it quite complex to single out the effects of vaping alone.

Prof Bernard Stewart, co-author of the report, said “There is no doubt that the cells and tissues of the oral cavity, the mouth and the lungs are altered by inhalation from e-cigarettes”.

The findings of this research highlight the importance of having an informed perspective about vaping. The results underscore the point that, while the long-term effects of vaping are not yet fully understood, there is evidence to suggest it poses significant health risks, including lung and oral cancer.

At Allen Carr’s Easyway, our approach to addiction is consistent and clear: we aim to eradicate it entirely rather than substitute one addiction for another. The findings from this Australian research underscore the importance of this approach, further emphasising our commitment to helping individuals overcome their addictions and live healthier, happier lives.
