The Easyway to Quit Smoking: A New Performance
Director Radosław Rychcik brings Allen Carr’s Easyway to the stage with the premiere of “The Easy Way to Quit Smoking” at the Stefan Żeromski Theatre in Kielce, Poland, on February 7th and 8th.
The Easyway method has helped millions of smokers break free for good, reaching audiences through books, seminars, therapy sessions, even a computer game and now through theatre.
The six-actor production has been a sell-out so far, with plans to run for the next two years.
The play takes place in a train station, a naturally tense environment where delayed journeys and disrupted plans bring strangers together. As they wait, unexpected conversations unfold and a sense of shared experience begins to grow. When their original purpose for being there is taken away, the characters form a stronger bond through their common situation.
The six actors carry the story without traditional dramatic scenes, staying fully present as the dialog moves between reflection, conversation and moments of humor.
Music also plays an important part in the production. Inspired by gospel – a genre linked to freedom and journey, short vocal pieces are woven throughout the performance, adding feeling and rhythm.
The stage design presents a clean, almost hyperreal train station, with polished marble surfaces that create a sense of distance and intensity.
Paul Baker, CEO of Allen Carr’s Easyway, said:
“I’m delighted to be in Poland for the world premiere of Allen Carr’s Easyway – The Play. As CEO of Allen Carr’s Easyway, it’s incredibly special to see this story brought to life. It was moving, funny in places, and even musical. It shines a light on addiction and how you can break free from it for good. I am delighted it has been so well received.”
