The Guardian today posts a leaked email from Phillip Morris which shows that the firm being Marlboro cigarettes is undertaking a significant lobbying campaign to prevent countries from following the World Health Organisation proposals on limiting vapes and similar products.

Next month the World Health Organisation will hold it’s framework convention on tobacco control in Panama at which delegates from 182 countries will attend. The proposals include greater regulation and taxation of smoke-free products.

The email is from the senior vice-president of external affairs who described the World Health Organisation proposals as a “prohibitionist attack” on smoke-free products and that staff should “any connection, any lead, whether political or technical” before the meeting.
