Having said that – it’s even more wonderful when we receive even more detailed information about those who stop smoking with us.

I started smoking at the age of 26, – I have no idea why – I just got addicted quickly and and smoked at least 15-a-day – much more when socialising.

I tried to stop a few times, but without any luck, then when I reached 48 yrs old I thought it was time to stop – many of my friends were dying with lung cancer, even one good friend who was only 26 years old.

I work in a residential home with people with learning disabilities, and all the staff could get help from theNHS Stop Smoking Service – so I thought I’d have ago with that. I’m afraid I was defeated by cigarettes each time until I was given Allen Carr’s Easyway To Stop Smoking book.

I’m not a great reader but thought I might as well give it a go….As it happens – I thoroughly enjoyed the book (I was on nicotine lozenges at the time). Once I had read the book it gave me the incentive to think positively and to stop feeding the addiction to nicotine. That day when I had finished the book I said goodbye to all the lozenges, goodbye to the nicotine monster, and I have never looked back!

It has been 17 months since I stopped smoking. At first I did put on a little weight – but quickly went back to my usual weight. I can stay free from nicotine and live my life smoke-free!
