UK smoking decline stalls since Covid
Smoking has been declining for decades until now according to new research by University College London.
A study reported in BMC Medicine by UCL’s Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care shows that smoking has stopped declining in England since the pandemic.
Dr Sarah Jackson, lead researcher, said this was likely to be because of a rise in young people smoking.
John Dicey CEO and senior therapist at Allen Carr’s Easyway comments:
“Covid lockdowns caused tremendous harm and those, along with the sharp rise in vaping amongst young people, are likely to be behind an increase in young people smoking.”
