It’s been a month since quitting bad sugar and I wanted to come here to list some of the benefits that I’ve noticed which have actually surprised me.

The reason I quit in the first place was because I was diagnosed with PCOS and when the doctors told me to go on medication for the rest of my life, something didn’t sit right with me. They wanted me to take Metformin which is a type 2 diabetic medication instead of changing my diet. They also wanted me to take inositol which is actually found naturally in fruit so my instincts told me I needed the power of food.

Doctors weren’t concerned about my lifestyle

Doctors weren’t concerned about my lifestyle as I’m within the NHS’s BMI. But I knew deep down that even though I was slim on the outside, I was metabolically unhealthy on the inside and that was the cause. It was a strong gut feeling.

I’m not disputing PCOS isn’t genetic, but it’s like a gun and I don’t have to load that gun. So I did an experiment with this bad sugar and the results have shocked me amongst other non-related benefits!

  1. After only 10 days after eating clean I ovulated by myself – this never happens.
  2. My cycle went back to normal and I saw my body temperature stabilise
  3. I didn’t have any hair grow back on my chin
  4. I sleep better, for less time, and wake up feeling refreshed: before it didn’t matter what time I woke up, I would always feel like I was dragging myself out of bed. Used to need 10 hours, now I naturally wake after 7.
  5. I feel super creative: I run my own business and in the last few weeks I’ve been naturally performing the best I ever have.
  6. I feel more confident: started putting myself out there in situations I was always too scared to do and felt great about it.
  7. I don’t get hungry! This worried me at first because I’d eat fruit in the morning and wouldn’t get hungry till late at night, but now I realise this is my genuine hunger so it’s okay
  8. I don’t crave anything anymore. I can sit and watch TV or go cinema and the thought of snacking doesn’t even cross my mind
  9. I’ve lost weight. The other day I caught my reflection in Tesco and it’s the first time in my life I’ve had to have a double take. I didn’t even look like me, I looked slim and petite! My body is slimming and my face is thinner and more defined.
  10. I don’t need naps. I used to nap a lot and looking back, that’s a warning sign that something wasn’t right. I’d sleep for an hour a day in the afternoon whereas now I couldn’t.
  11. I’m energetic all day. I used to stop working around 3.30 and start procrastinating as my mind had gone to mush. Now I’m working well into the evening still alert and rearing to go.
  12. I go to bed and my belly isn’t bloated. I still think I look good whereas before I’d joke and say I looked pregnant.
  13. I ditched all my supplements for my PCOS after a few days as I just had this instinct to do so because I felt so great with food. I’m still feeling great.
  14. My skin is clearer.

Honestly I thought I’d get weight loss, but the other benefits have been so shocking and wonderful.

My body feels recovered and that is such a beautiful feeling. The nice thing is that after so long without crap food and drink, my instinct naturally keeps me away from it. I’ve been to gatherings and I’ve naturally declined alcohol and instead wanted sparkling water. I just like putting health back into my body now and that’s more important than any sugary rubbish.

The results are so worth it!
